Abdominal sponge (napkin with loop) - this is a large 4-layer gauze napkin with overlaid edges. It is used in cavitary operations as an abdominal napkin to separate the operated organ from the surrounding organs and for tamponade.

Abdominal sponge is made with a loop. It is used to fix the sponge to the operating linen or coating, to control the number of sponges used in the operated cavity. A loop is also needed to easily remove the sponge from the cavity.

Also in the abdominal sponge there is an X-ray contrast plate, which provides reliable control of the consequences of the operation.
